Rain, Rain, Rain – Wrap-Up
The big thing this week was rain, rain, and more rain. I was so sick and tired of the rain that I didn’t even bother to take any pictures of it. And while we didn’t have to deal with much more than the rain itself my thoughts and prayers go out to all those who were much more directly effected by Hermine.
My week was a little different because instead of going to my regular job on Tuesday I worked as a Voter Information Specialist for one of the local precinct. We had a very low turn out so it was a long day but we were surprised by an actual visit from Lori Edwards which was exciting. And thankful at one of the few times during the day we had more than one voter in the building. Of course no photos are allowed so I took a picture of my name tag after I got home. I have a feeling that November will not be nearly as quiet.
The word of the day Saturday really caught my attention because despite the rain and all the other things going on I had a lot to be thankful for at the end of the week.
Finally, the big event this week was picking up a new car for me. We of course did this during an approaching Tropical Storm and was thankful that they let me write a new policy on it since we weren’t in the direct path. We got a very good deal combining both regular customer and employee stuff. I had to take the only color they had and was so excited it turned out to be a blue. I’m very excited and with the Bluetooth Audio and T-Mobile Binge On I have been able to cancel SiriusXM too. But even more exciting than getting a new car for me is the reason this was possible is that Hayden will be taking over the payments on the my old car and plans to be driving himself around once it gets out of the shop. So I will no longer be driving “Baby” who I’m sure will get a new name once Hayden starts driving it. But I am happy to introduce “Madame Blueberry” into the family.
It was funny to reflect as this week came to an end how my panic at the Silver car breaking down on the way to work turned into the great joy of Hayden being ready to take a big leap into car ownership and freedom of travel. I am also so thrilled with Dan for checking into this program and for getting all the behind scenes stuff done including driving up to my work to get a signature when he’s trying to get stuff done at work. It was a total surprise that the idea was formed and in less than 48 hours was a done deal.
