First Tour Stop of the Day
Our first stop was across the parking lot for breakfast. I had scrambled eggs, corn on the cob, carrot wedge, a fried slice of ham, a sausage which was really like a hot dog, and toast with jam.
Next Stop on the Tour
Our next stop was to drop Lillian off at her school Kiddee Nursery and Preschool. It is bilingual for ages 1.5 to 3. Then English immersion for ages 3-6. They were kind enough to give me a tour. A talked a lot about the center in the Cuddles post for today so check that out for more information. But it was fun to see some the differences as well as what they had in common. There was even one little one that kept greeting everyone and then trying to get out the door.
The Walking Tour Begins
We drove to the old city. There are lots of temples or Wats in the old city and we stopped and saw two of them. The first was Wat Phra Singh.
The next was Wat Chedi Luang. It includes a temple that women are prohibited from visiting, They fill it would cause a breakdown of society because it houses the city pillar it also includes a temple that dates back to the 1400’s.
Tour Local Foods
We ate lunch at Honor Oh – Chicken Rice. The chicken is boiled and sliced. It is served with rice and other sides. There is a set price for the plate and then you can drink as much bottled water you want they just add that to your total.
Tour the Museums
Our first stop was the Chiang Mai Historical Center where much of the history of the Chiang Mai region is explained. There are also two archeological sites where they have uncovered parts of the old wall.
The second stop was much more interesting. The Lanna Fold Life shows many aspects to the life and culture of the people of the Chiang Mai region.
While at the Folk Life Museum we ran into a group of school children. Again it was funny to watch how they are like preteens here in the states and how they differ.
When we got outside I noticed how well you could see the mountains off in the distance this wasn’t something I got to see when I was here before because of the smoke.
Tour of Some Modern Culture
After coming back to the room and cleaning up we headed out the Central Festival a multi-story mall. We had dinner at the Hajime Robot Resturant where a robot delivers the raw ingredients you ask for and then you cook it up at your table.
The mall also has some really cute items scatter here and there.
