We actually had a whole week that we were at home and didn’t have a bunch of other things to do so we focused on getting a bunch of school work done this week. Hannah got to start two different reviews involving live teaching via Skype. So for the next 8 weeks she will have a flute lesson every other week and Monday was her first lesson. She really had a good time and it was fun to listen to her lesson. On Wednesday she had the first of seven weekly Spanish lessons given by a native speaker. This one was a bit more difficult but I think she was enjoying it. We also worked on our Bible Study and learned about using dictionaries and thesauruses. Joshua had already worked through the Homeschool Programming course but he spent some time on Sunday showing me about what he learned so I could get the review written. On Friday morning Hannah was excited to see a butterfly on my car and was glad it waited for her grab the phone and get a picture. On Saturday I was up early for a CPR/First Aid class. The sun looked really cool but I could get a good shot of it from the red light. Instead I got some of the signs that the construction is still going on at one of Bartow’s busiest intersections.
It was a busy week with lots of things going on. We received several new review items that we will be starting over the next couple of weeks. Hannah started out the week not feeling good but by the end of the week she was able to learn all about worm farming. I took the first 5 child care worker exams. I was almost the victim of a really bad scam but was able to save the day. See my blog post about it earlier this month.
It always amazing me how having a holiday in the middle of the week tends to throw you off put at least the holiday was Thursday so I only spent a couple of day confused about what day it was. Hayden is finishing up the orientation portion of Job Corps and is excited to be starting classes this week. As part of the life skills training they will be helping him to get his driver’s license. He sent us a picture of the learner’s permit. Just in time for the Fourth of July holiday we received our next review item. It is a study of American History. And no matter how much laundry I do it always seems like there is more waiting. Got all caught up Tuesday and of course by Wednesday there was another pile to do. I’ve been working hard to be ready for my child care workers exams. I have the first five test on Tuesday. We had a great time on the Fourth with a cook out with friends. Hannah made a Flag Cake to share. This week I also worked on learning more about how to utilize social media. One of the tasks was to create pin-able images for all blog posts. I used the tutorials provided and create a couple. Then I realized that I could create templates to use in Photo Shop Elements. This will make creating the images simple and give a uniform, yet unique look to my blog posts. I got all of my Alphabet Projects caught up and edited with the new image at the bottom. I will slowly work my way through some of the older posts. And of course you should see them being used in future posts as well. I have a lot of stuff to get done over the weekend so I’m working through a prioritized to-do list to get down.
