On August 16th of this year we were all blessed and privileged to participate in the baptism of Lillian Juniper Hale. Any baptism is moving and special but it is made even more so when it is your grandchild who is being baptised. It was also a special time for the family to gather together from near and far.
But God found a way to make it even more meaningful and special. It is sometimes surprising to be reminded how God can reach out and touch us in small ways. While all of the family was gathered together I couldn’t help but think about our Samuel who being born into heaven would not be with us on this special day.
And then as I was looking through the bulletin I noticed the offertory song that was going to be played. “You Are My All in All”. And while today the version was instrumental this was the song that was song at Samuel’s service 15 years earlier. It truly felt like the touch of God on my heart. On this special day as the family gathered together it struck me that it one sense the entire family was now present and accounted for.
It was a beautiful reminder as we teach and love on Lily that she is a child of God. A God who cares about in things both small and large. A God who is faithful even unto death. A God who will not forsake us.
