Another Week, Another Letter in the ABC Blogging challenge
I am continuing my journey through the alphabet with my children’s book theme. I’ve really had a lot of fun so far and it’s been fun to take a look at some favorite children’s books.
Come along with me and take the time to add your own book recommendations in the comments. Or if you would like to join in the blog hop check out the graphic at the bottom of the page.
G is for Go, Dog. Go!
Go, Dog. Go! by P.D. Eastman was always a favorite at our house. First I read it to my younger ones and as they began to read this Beginning Reader story is great for practicing their reading. The pictures are very funny and several of them have lots of details for having the children look through and use their language skills to describe what they are seeing. There are also lots of places in the story were you can practice positional words like over and under. They can use a stuffed animal to demonstrate the words.
Of course one of my children’s favorite parts is the recurring encounter between two of the dogs. Every time they met up she asks, “Do you like my hat?” Of course he doesn’t appreciate her hat until the end of the story. A fun activity is to find or create crazy hats and switch them around during the reading of the story. I just found a great Crazy Hat Day board on Pinterest that you can check out for some very crazy hat ideas. If you decided to create a crazy hat I would love to see a picture of it.
