The definition for vicarious is: experienced in the imagination through the feelings or actions of another person.
I’m pretty much a homebody. I do like to travel a bit but I’m not big on adventures. I’ve been known to tease that if I had been alive during America’s pioneer period I would have been one of those people back east waving good-bye to my family and friends heading out on the wagon train.
But on the other had I have some children who do enjoy travel and adventure. So far it’s mostly been my oldest son so far. It all started with some mission trips to the Dominican Republic. He moved on to a semester in Uganda. During seminary he got to travel to South Africa and China. He has spent the several years living in South Sudan and traveling all Africa through is work with Mennonite Central Committee (MCC). Currently he is in North America and he and my daughter-in-law prepare for their next adventure in Nepal.
More Vicarious Adventures
As my oldest continues his adventures my middle son begins his own adventures with the United States Air Force. He is currently finishing up his training. No telling the places I will continue to visit through his travels as his plans right now are to make the Air Force his career.
And with three more children who knows what other place I will get to travel too.
